The University Libraries are part of Oakland University's Aspire. Advance. Achieve. fundraising campaign to further Kresge Library's critical mission of integrating teaching, information, and technology to advance academic excellence and information literacy. When you support the University Libraries at any level, you help us meet the evolving scholarly needs of students, faculty and the Oakland University community.
Kresge Library ensures collections remain relevant and useful including unique resources to match the academic curriculum. Augmenting our holdings (print and electronic resources) in important and emerging academic fields is critical to academic and professional success.
Kresge Library is working with faculty to promote the use of affordable textbooks through "open educational resources" and texts on reserve to lower the total cost of attending college. Similar programs across the country save students thousands of dollars without sacrificing academic rigor while promoting student success.
Special programs and activities at Kresge Library support student success and engage the community: Lit to Film Book Club, Fall Open House, Banned Books Week, African-American Celebration Program, Poetry Slam, Open Education Week, Finals Week activities and more.
Facilities updates will bring our beloved library into the 21st century. Immediate needs include furnishing upgrades, additional quiet areas with private and advanced comfortable seating as well as superior IT infrastructure and access to outlets.
Archives and Special Collections are home to thousands of important historical items related to the University and Oakland County. These collections include thousands of rare books and several special and unique holdings including the Jonathan Riley-Smith Crusades Collection and the Oakland Press newspaper archives. We must ensure that critical and rare materials are acquired, preserved and made available to students, researchers and the citizens of our community.
Single gifts and endowment support in any of the above areas as well as discretionary unrestricted contributions will help us to realize the full potential of Kresge Library to support an empowering education and innovative research at Oakland University in the years to come. In recognition of philanthropic support, we offer a wide range of permanent naming opportunities within the Kresge Library starting at $5,000.
